Ken began his career with Deutsche Bank working in the Media / Telecommunications Investment Banking Group where he focused on mergers & acquisitions. While at Deutsche Bank, Ken became proficient in modeling Leveraged Buyouts (LBOs), Discounted Cash Flows (DCFs), trading & transaction comparables and accretion / dilution analyses. He worked on parts of the $41 billion merger of Cingular / AT&T Wireless and the $6 billion merger of NTL / Telewest (the largest UK cable merger at the time).
After working on the sell-side, Ken moved to the buy-side with Value Architects Asset Management, a value-oriented hedge fund. While there, he analyzed both fixed income and equity securities for inclusion in the model portfolio, calculated performance of the portfolio and individual holdings and monitored holdings to determine if they should be increased, decreased, or divested. Part of monitoring the portfolio holdings involved in-depth financial statement analysis to justify continued inclusion in the portfolio.
Ken's modeling proficiency and experience resulted in him being chosen to create a Microsoft Excel modeling course at his alma mater, Rutgers University. This led to the creation of Financial Modeling for Corporate & Project Finance which he has taught to students in the MBA Program since 2012. The class covers the basics of layout and formatting, Microsoft Excel shortcuts, financial statement analysis, trend analysis, forecasting, trading & transaction comparables, and culminates in a Discounted Cash Flow valuation. He has also taught Advanced Corporate Finance Modeling, Investment Banking Analysis and Corporate Finance. Ken delivers Analyst & Associate training programs along with continuing education classes focused on modeling and valuation.
Ken graduated 1st in his class, summa cum laude, from Rutgers University with a BS in Finance and graduated 1st in his class, summa cum laude, from Boston University with a MS in Financial Management and a Concentration in Investment Analysis.
